How long do smart technology installations take?

For new builds or renovations

New build projects take as long as the build takes. We're on hand from before first fix until moving day and then longer for maintenance and aftercare.

We design your technology plan, then once it’s signed off we get a first fix pack ready for your electrician. Please note that we don’t typically do the work of an electrician on site, so you need to factor this into your planning and costs. Whilst there is overlap in what we do, we aren’t electricians. 

We do however provide all the information and equipment your electrician needs to lay the foundation of your smart technology system. We’ll be back on site at second fix to install your hardware and configure the system to your preferences. 

Once the project is complete we let you settle into the space for a while and within the first three months of that period we encourage you to request as many system customisations as you need. These are the kind of customisations you don’t know you need until you live in a space. 

Once we’re all happy with the system and it’s signed off as complete, we can sign you up to an aftercare package that gives you priority access to us should something go wrong with your system. 

This is also a preventative measure for you. When you’re on an aftercare plan with us, we’ll be monitoring your system regularly remotely, pushing out any software updates needed or clocking unusual activity that might cause issues to how it’s functioning. 

Significant renovations can be just as intensive if a rewire is happening and the property is being stripped back to its bones. We’ll treat this the same way as we do a new build project, and it’ll take as long as it takes.

Getting us in front of your other trade partners is important in both cases. The best projects are done in collaboration from the very beginning. 

For media rooms, home cinemas, or conference rooms

A media room/home cinema project takes us one day to eight weeks depending on the requirements of the project. If you’re not sure about the difference between media rooms and home cinemas, you can read all about the practical and price differences here.

In short, a simple wireless speaker system with a TV will take no time at all to install. A complex, two-piece projection system with multi-channel surround sound audio that includes a room build out and acoustic treatments will take much longer. 

Whilst dedicated home cinema installations take a long time, the work is contained to one area of a space, so it is a less intrusive installation than a whole-home smart system retrofit. 

Conference rooms are similar in scope. A simple huddle space can be turned around in a day, whereas a complex high-end boardroom can take a few weeks to complete.

For outdoor projects 

Outdoor projects take anywhere from a single day for a simple audio installation to a few weeks if we’re working alongside landscapers and other trades throughout the process. You can find an example of one of our more complex garden projects here.

You don’t have to have an existing smart system installed to have smart technology installed outside, but it will make your life simpler as you can control all the technology in the building through one system.
