CPD courses by Epitome Living: smart technology and contemporary buildings

Continuous learning is a key part of thriving in any career.

But for some careers, that continuous learning has to be measured and reported.

Continuous professional development (CPD) is obligatory for all Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) architects and architects from The Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI).

RIBA has identified 10 mandatory core curriculum topics to address through CPD. One of those is ‘Design, construction and technology’

This section of the curriculum covers understanding, and keeping up to date with, the technical, design, engineering, services and technological issues, trends and changes. It also covers having the knowledge and skills to deliver a successful building process using the latest technology in a rapidly changing industry and profession.

For those involved with RIBA, the deadline to complete your CPD for 2025 is 31 March 2026. Or, you can make a start on your 35 hours for 2025/2026 if you’re ahead of yourself. In Ireland, 40 points are required annually.

The CPD courses offered by Epitome Living are approved by both RIBA and the British Institute of Interior Design. They’re put together by CEDIA - the global industry association for smart home professionals - and delivered by our team as CEDIA members.

As with RIBA architects, all BIID registered interior designers are required to undertake an annual CPD requirement to remain a member. The Institute of Interior Designers in Ireland has similar expectations of its members.

Our CPD courses explore the design and installation of technology in contemporary homes and are suitable for architects and interior designers.

We're the only smart technology installer in Ireland offering this training in smart technology, so don't miss out on getting yourself or your team signed up in 2026.

We’re now industry partner members of the Interiors Association in Ireland, making it even easier for interior designers in the Republic of Ireland to access our courses if they’re also part of the association.

Courses on offer include:

  • Designing the Connected Home

  • Cabling for the Integrated Home

  • Introduction to Integrated Lighting Design

  • Designing Home Cinemas and Media Rooms

  • Outdoor Technology; Extending The Living Spaces

We suggest beginning with the foundational Designing the Connected Home course, then advancing through the more subject-specific courses.

CPDs focused on commercial buildings are also available on request. We’ll work with you to establish exactly what your team needs from our training and why.

We’ll provide lunch on the day of delivery (if in person!), and stick around to answer any questions about best practices for intelligent smart technology design and why we think it’s so important to consider technology as fundamental in contemporary buildings.

Dates are available on a first-come first-served basis at info@epitomeliving.com.Our courses can be delivered to architects working in the Republic of Ireland either in-person or virtually.

Smart technology adoption is growing in Ireland - don't get left behind.
