What are the advantages of using Loxone for home automation projects?
Epitome Living is one of only a few Loxone Partners in Northern Ireland.
Many people haven’t heard of Loxone until we introduce them to the brand.
They know they want home automation of some kind, or they know they want keyless access to their property, or easy remote building management for when they’re on holiday, but they don’t exactly know what the best option to achieve these goals is.
Whilst it’s not the only home automation system available on the market, Loxone is our preferred choice for projects with a lot of technology systems. That could be lighting, underfloor heating, solar PV, EV charging, and multiple TVs, to name but a few.
The main advantage of Loxone is how easy it is to integrate multiple complex systems into one simple system. Life’s complex enough without multiple control systems cluttering our walls and our phones with apps to manage our tech.
Ease of control is another advantage of using Loxone for building automation projects in Northern Ireland. This is true in both residential and commercial settings.
Loxone offers multiple styles of switch hardware. These can be configured to operate exactly as home or business owners need them to.
The most simple solution is as follows:
Shading control on the left.
Audio volume control on the right.
Lighting control in the middle.
These switches also come with built-in temperature and humidity sensors.
You can even mount these switches under a work surface. It’s amazing how quickly intuition kicks in when you’ve learned what your switch does.
Then there’s the Touch Pure Flex, which is entirely customisable based on wants and needs.
The switch shown has been designed for indoor and outdoor lighting control, audio control, EV charging and party scene setting - that’s the cactus.
When the homeowner hits the cactus, the house sets itself up for hosting - the lights dim and music comes on at a low volume.
At a commercial project, a Touch Pure Flex was designed around room modes. Off, demo mode, and cleaning mode.
Loxone also recently brought out a small display screen switch with increased functionality. It looks like the below.
And if you don’t like any of those, or want a more analogue feel for your building, Loxone is flexible enough to integrate with other compatible switches.
This aesthetic flexibility is the third big advantage to using Loxone for home automation, and our clients are often drawn to the simplicity of the hardware (read Wendy’s story here).
When you’re used to walls covered in thermostats and switch banks, the minimalism of Loxone’s hardware is a sweet relief for people who want to bring their homes into the 21st century.
Because the single, coordinated systems we design through Loxone are so powerful, the system is, in Loxone’s own words, 'fully scalable, open to interface with other manufacturers and cost-effective from the start’.
As an authorised Loxone Partner working in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, we’re approved to design, install and commission Loxone automation projects. We’ve been doing that since Epitome Living was founded in 2017.
Like Epitome Living with its clients, Loxone also strives to build strong relationships with its partners. That means that we’re constantly talking to the team to learn more about the system’s capabilities and troubleshoot any problems we encounter with their team of experts.
Another benefit of using Loxone for home automation is that its software is completely free. That means you don’t have to pay an ongoing subscription fee to use the tech.
Costs to the client are therefore design, labour, and hardware. Then aftercare if you want to sign up when your project is complete (which we recommend).
One final advantage of using Loxone for your project is that your data is kept secure in home, rather than in a cloud server somewhere else in the world. If you’re concerned about hacking (which you shouldn’t be if you have good password hygiene) then this is an excellent choice to calm any nerves.
As stated, Loxone isn’t the only home automation system available in Northern Ireland - but in our opinion, it is one of the best.
